Next Steps

One of the first steps in starting a READY! for Kindergarten program is to decide if it will be funded, administered and staffed as part of an existing 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, such as a school district or local literacy organization or if a new nonprofit will need to be established.

If the READY! program will be offered through a newly formed nonprofit, consider starting a chapter of The Children’s Reading Foundation in your community. As a chapter of the national nonprofit organization, you gain immediate 501(c)(3) status, which is necessary to raise funding and seek grants. If desired, the chapter may offer additional programs and services to further literacy and education goals in your local area. Read more about forming a chapter of The Children’s Reading Foundation.
